From the Coronet, November 2021

Greetings to the populace of Adiantum, and of surrounding lands,

As we move closer to the end of the year and the beginning of the next, we wanted to update you on some of the happenings within the Barony of Adiantum and the Principality of the Summits.

Congratulations and all best wishes to Luciano Foscari and Tessina Felice Gianfigliazzi, as they emerged victorious in the Summits Coronet Lists held in Adiantum on September 18th.  The Principality is in capable hands going forward, and we throw our unreserved support behind the Heirs to the Griffin Thrones.

Should you have contact with them on social media or in person, please do take a moment to offer your thanks and gratitude to Their Highnesses Kenric Maur and Dagmar The Red for their tireless and unceasing efforts to lead the Principality through a very strange time.

As for the Barony – our next event is scheduled to be Midwinters Feast on January 15th at the Long Tom Grange.  At this event, we will (finally) be holding three Baronial Championships – Rapier, Cut and Thrust, and Arts & Sciences.  All who wish to vie to become a Champion of Adiantum, please signal your intent to Their Excellencies Adiantum via email or private message prior to the event.  New officers of the Barony who have not had the chance to be sworn in will have that opportunity during Court.

Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the event, along with valid ID, will be required for attendance in accordance with Kingdom policies.

All of our Champions have served the Barony incredibly well – and far longer than anticipated.  That we might be able to allow them to rest from their long labor, we are holding the three previously mentioned Championships at Midwinters.  All other Baronial Championships will be scheduled for Egils 2022.

Additionally, we are looking for an event steward for Birthday Bash – if you have interest in putting together a bid for this event, our next Council meeting will be held on November 22nd, and we would thankfully welcome any and all bids for this event at that time.

Finally, a word regarding the Baron and Baroness.  As Egils 2022 marks the end of our 3 year term, Evan will be stepping down as Baron at that time.  It is Ayla’s wish to stay on as Baroness for an additional 1 year period in order to bring several projects to completion as well as to move Adiantum off of the same Baronial Rotation as our local Cousins. She has received support from Their Highnesses Summits in this endeavor, as well as Their Royal Highnesses An Tir.  To that end, a confidence polling will be held early in 2022 – we have already been in contact with the Kingdom Polling Deputy, and will be making more information on the polling available soon.

To all who dwell within the boundaries of Adiantum, and to the many Friends of the Barony abroad – Thank You. We are so grateful for each and every one of you. These past couple of years have not been easy for any of us. Yet, here we are. We wake up every day, put one foot in front of the other, breathe in – breathe out. We have all spent this time surviving in the hopes that we can once again thrive. So, as a community, one step at a time, let us come together in camaraderie to build each other up and to blossom.
